Thought for today - September 12, 2020

 Many people say they believe the Bible, but what do you believe when you say you believe the Bible.

Thought for today.... August 28, 2020

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” -Matthew 7:7

I started thinking about this verse after it was posed as a question from an esoteric perspective, particularly of what does the idea mean, to knock. It was concluded that along life's journey we are in a process of discovery, where we first ask a question, we seek for an answer, and then we try that answer as to whether it is true by knocking, perhaps on doors of those more experienced.

The Christian understanding of the verse is not much different but rather than the discovery depending on ourselves, it is through God that His will is made known to us. We ask Him through prayer, then we seek for an answer through His word, further prayer, or perhaps with guidance from others strong in the faith. Most importantly with perseverance we wait upon Him, we knock, and in His time, His will is made known and we can be confident he will deliver!

A thought for the day, proof or faith.... August 26, 2020

I saw a meme this morning that said:

“There is not a single religion that can survive these two words: Prove it.”

There are ever increasing evidences being discovered through archeological studies and eye witness accounts that validate parts of the Bible, but God has not called us to prove it, rather we are to have faith to believe it.

Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” -John 20:29

A thought for the day, through or from... August 25, 2020

 The U.S. is a real mess right now and this is something I think people should consider...

We come THROUGH our mother but FROM God Almighty. While our genes make us unique with unique challenges, that is not the totality of what we can aspire to!

A thought for believers, be like an eagle....August 24, 2020

“but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.” - Isaiah 40:31

Often, comparison is made to eagles in scripture. An interesting thing about eagles is that they only eat live prey. They don't pick around on a dead carcass like a crow or buzzard. Be like an eagle and don't return to your old ways of sin and despair. Scripture says you are a new creature so be sure to go a new way with the Spirit and enjoy the fruits of “...love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control” - Galatians 5:22a
